Do you believe in miracles? Perhaps more importantly, do you believe miracles can happen to you or through you?
One night, many years ago, I was visiting a neighbor who had Crohn’s Disease. He’d had surgery 6 months prior and was on a feeding tube, with infections that would not go away. Suddenly, I had the urge to place my hands on his stomach and kept them there for about 45 minutes.
The next day, he felt great. When he went to the doctor the following day, they discovered the infection was gone! What’s even more incredible is that for the past 12 years, he hasn’t had any further complications or hospitalizations.
This powerful healing experience led me to learn about and pursue training in Reiki, a Japanese technique for alternative healing.
REI means universal spirit. KI means life force energy. Reiki was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the late 1800’s. At one time he was the head of Christian boys’ school at a school in Japan. it has been said Dr. Usui was asked by one of his students if he believed in the miracles Jesus had performed in healing others. That question stuck with him. He spent many years trying to understand the miracle of healing. At one point he was guided to walk up a mountain and go deeper within himself. He stayed on the top of the mountain for 21 days, meditating and fasting. By the end of his retreat, he had the knowledge, tools and gifts of healing. He then shared his learnings with those in need and also taught others on how to use the universal energy.
The benefits of Reiki are endless. Mostly focusing on the 7 chakras found within the body, the energy is moved and flows through the energy fields balancing and clearing the negative and replacing it with the positive and healing. Along with relieving stress and anxiety, it can lower blood pressure. Reiki helps with chronic pain and major illness. It can aide with breaking addictions, improve sleep disorders. It is effective in helping to speed up recovery time after surgeries. It can release emotional blockages and eliminate toxins on a physical and emotional level.
I have been practicing Reiki since 2008. It has changed my life. I have experienced a lot and seen the healing power of Reiki first hand. To be able to help others and connect with the divine, it truly is a gift from the universe. The healing is unlimited.
Oftentimes clients come to me for reiki after having issues for so long and traditional medicine is not helping (and sometimes gives them other issues). Working together, we can use the healing power of Reiki for relief from a wide variety of issues, from anxiety and depression to chronic pain and migraines. Beyond physical healing, Reiki can also provide emotional healing for matters such as childhood trauma or assist with stress relief and renewing an overall sense of balance and grounding.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Reiki, is the freedom it gives clients. Freedom from pain and worry, as well as the freedom to more fully live each day.
Years ago, I had a client who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Before her scheduled surgery, I made a few home visits to her and our sessions went very well. She was able to stay focused, and it helped to calm her anxiety.
On the day of her surgery, my intent was to send her distant reiki during the surgery. This could help with the surgery going smoothly and also reduce post-surgery symptoms. I knew her surgery was to start at 7:30 am. When I looked at the clock it was 8:15 am. Darn, how could I have missed an hour? I sent the reiki at 8:15am and the distant reiki lasted about 45 minutes.
Later that day, her husband reached out to me to let me know how the surgery had gone. He said the surgery had been held up an hour and didn’t start until 8:30. He described how his wife had suddenly felt very calm and confident before the surgery began. Amazing how the divine universe works. When I spoke with the client a couple of days later, she went into more detail, sharing that around 8:20, before they brought her into the room, she’d had a sense of peace come over her.
A week later she had her post op appointment. There was a lot of conversation beforehand stating she would have pain and trouble lifting her arm after the surgery. The client didn’t experience pain, and did not need any pain medication. When she went for her appointment, the doctor was amazed to see she could lift her arm with ease.
I am happy to say she celebrated her 5 year mark a few years ago. She is doing great. As Dr. Dr. Mikao Usui had found when he was on top of the mountain for 21 days many, many years ago, there are such things as miracles.
When people are first introduced to Reiki, it’s not uncommon for them to be both curious and a bit skeptical. My motto is that it can’t hurt and it just might help. Perhaps this is your time to free yourself from any pain, worry or burden you’ve been carrying, so you can fully enjoy your life.
